Tuscany in Spring/Autumn Photo Travel Tour (6 Nights)
Tuscany in the spring & Autumn are my favourite times to visit, it is truly one of the most exciting cities in the world to explore and photograph. This Landscape & Travel Photography Tour gives you the opportunities to learn all the inside tips and tricks you need to know on how to capture amazing Landscape, people images, architecture and amazing nightscape as we explore the iconic countryside of Tuscany.
Plan on spending the evening in Florence or alternatively Siena if you are not already with us on the DOLOMITES OR VENICE PHOTO TOUR depending on the seasons. This will allow you time to get some rest before the tour begins and also ensure that we can leave on time for the start of our Tuscany Photo Tour.
DAY ONE
If you are continuing the journey with us directly after the Dolomites or Venice Photo Tour, we'll continue from Venice Marco Polo Airport and travel together to Siena, where we'll be collecting the rest of the group's and pursuit our travel to the Val d'Orcia - Our base for the next 6 nights.
Our Tuscany Photo Tour starts at 1pm at Siena Train Station, where we’ll meet as a group before heading off on a short scenic drive toward San Quirico d’Orcia. This is a great introduction to the region, giving you the chance to enjoy those classic Val d’Orcia views—rolling hills, farmhouses, vineyards, and that unmistakable Tuscan light.
Once we arrive and check into our accommodation, we’ll have a relaxed orientation meeting to get to know one another and go through the final itinerary for the next six days. Martial will give a quick and practical tutorial on setting up your camera for consistent results and understanding your histogram—useful tools that will help you get the most out of the week.
Later in the afternoon, we’ll head out for our first sunset shoot at a nearby location. It’s a wonderful spot to ease into the tour, with opportunities to photograph solitary cypress trees, winding country roads, and those beautiful open landscapes glowing under the last light of the day. A gentle, inspiring start to our time in Tuscany.
DAY 2 - 6
We’ll have five full days to explore the magical Val d’Orcia region and beyond, travelling in comfort with our own vehicle and private driver/local guide. Our journey will take us through the beautiful medieval towns of Montepulciano, Montalcino, Montichiello, Castiglione d’Orcia, and San Quirico d’Orcia, as well as to some of the region’s most iconic rolling hills and the famous Terrapille farmhouse.
This is some of the most iconic landscape in Tuscany and scene featuring in move like Gladiator with one of our own, Aussie actor Russell Crowe.
On some mornings, you’ll have the option to rise early to capture the breathtaking Tuscan countryside in the soft early light—during blue hour and at sunrise—when the morning mist drifts through the valleys, before enjoying breakfast back at our accommodation. Or you can enjoy the comfort of your bed for an extra couple of hours – your choice!
All our selected accommodations offer a healthy and delicious fresh local continental breakfast. After breakfast each day, our local guide will take us to specially selected photography locations to capture and explore some of the region’s most charming and remote sites, including medieval towns, a day in the vineyards, private wine tastings, and even a couple of stargazing evenings—all under the guidance of Martial Fatton, your professional landscape photographer and tutor/guide.
In addition to savouring authentic Tuscan cuisine in a variety of small local restaurants in the evenings, we’ll enjoy light, delightful lunches in the villages we explore each day—fresh local produce, relaxed moments, and time to pause on a terrace under the Tuscan sun.
In the evenings, when all the tourists have headed back to Florence or moved on to Rome, we’ll soak up the peacefulness and tranquillity of the smaller charming country towns, perhaps enjoying a cheeky glass of limoncello or a local grappa on a terrace. We like to think of ourselves as travellers and explorers rather than tourists, and our photography tours reflect our ‘go slow, get down & get close’ small-group travel philosophy. By spending six nights based in one location, we immerse ourselves in the daily rhythm of life in a small Tuscan town.
DAY 7
Our Tuscany Photo Tour group will depart after breakfast, with a stop at Siena Train Station for those not continuing with us on the Cinque Terre Photo Tour. From there, you can catch a connection to Florence (approximately 1.5 hours) or Rome (approximately 3 hours).
Tuscany in spring is a must-do: the countryside bursts into bloom, with vibrant shades of green and misty mornings creating a magical atmosphere.
September offers a warmer, more tranquil end-of-summer vibe—equally beautiful and incredibly romantic.
A perfect add-on before your TUSCANY PHOTO TOUR is our ITALIAN DOLOMITES OR VENICE PHOTO TOUR or following straight after our TUSCANY TOUR join us on our CINQUE TERRE PHOTO TOUR extension.
